We are looking for a talented Data Centre Manager to work with us as we maintain, modernise and transform these services.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join DWP Hybrid Cloud Services as a Data Centre Manager and to be part of the one the biggest digital transformations in Europe, implementing leading edge technologies that put our 22 million users at the centre of everything we do.

Delivery. Work. Projects.

Responsible for welfare, pensions and child maintenance policy, DWP transacts around £170 billion in payments each year, operates out of more than 800 locations and has around 90,000 employees. We run one of the most complex IT estates in Western Europe.
Data Centres are the heart of any large organisation, and DWP is no different. We’re a massive organisation, so our Data Centres in Corsham and Farnborough have to work really hard.

We need expert Data Centre Managers to oversee these facilities and make sure DWP has the power and IT capacity required. We work on Network, Servers, Storage, Virtual Machines, dealing with compliance, audit and lots more.

We keep the engine of DWP’s technology operations ticking so our teams and people can deliver critical support and services to users. It’s a vital role.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

Change Management:

• You’re able to deal with high impact, complex change requests.
• You ensure that release policies, procedures and processes are applied.
Problem Management:
• You make sure that the right actions are taken to investigate, resolve and anticipate risks and problems, in order to achieve excellent user outcomes.
• You can coordinate a team to investigate problems, implement solutions and take preventative measures.
• You actively troubleshoot and identify problems across different technology capabilities and strip back a problem to diagnose root causes.

IT Infrastructure:

• You design, implement, administers and support infrastructure technologies, solutions and services like: compute, storage, networking, physical infrastructures, software, commercial off the shelf (COTS) and open source packages and solutions, virtual and cloud including PaaS, SaaS.
Delivering at Pace:
• You make sure everyone clearly understands and owns their roles, responsibilities and business priorities
• You give honest, motivating and enthusiastic messages about priorities, objectives and expectations to get the best out of people.
• You maintain your own performance in challenging circumstances and encourage others to do the same.

Managing a Quality Service:

• You understand the complexity and diversity of customer needs and expectations and deliver great customer service.
• You use the right method at the right time to eliver a high quality, efficient and cost effective service.
• You maake clear, practical and manageable plans for service delivery.
• You ensure adherence to legal, regulatory and security requirements in service delivery.

You’ll be based in your choice of our Data Centres in Corsham or Farnborough. Under normal circumstances, there will be travel required to each.
