We are looking for a brilliant Head of Infrastructure Operations to work with us on one of the biggest transformation programmes in Europe, providing services that have far-reaching and pivotal roles in citizens’ lives.

BPDTS are supporting a number of digital transformational changes underway within DWP Digital. To support this transformation we need cultural, skill-based and technological changes to build capability to operate in a truly digital manner. As Head of Infrastructure Operations you’ll have a key role in delivering that
You and your role
As Head of Infrastructure Operations you will lead a number of functions delivering on-premise hosting services, and enabling your team to delivery Reliability Engineering for cloud-based services.
Traditional services in this space include building and managing servers, middleware, storage, back up & restore and networks. The move to cloud means we need new ways of working, so you will shape and help deliver a new Reliability Engineering sub-function using industry leading automation technology. This is a critical time for this evolving sub-function requiring collaborative, dynamic leadership.
What are we looking for?
• Demonstrable in depth experience of Service Management in complex, multi- supplier environment
• Leading teams/departments in the design, implementation, administration and support of infrastructure solutions and service
• Strategic supplier management, contract negotiation and performance management
• Experienced with planning, estimating, staffing, organising, and managing multiple projects; has monitored and dealt with critical paths and risks areas utilising Agile project methodologies
• Significant leadership and management experience with the ability to motivate individuals to deliver user excellence using highly developed interpersonal communication skills
• Advanced analytical and problem solving, problem management and troubleshooting skills
• Experience of maintaining secure environments through innovative and automated processes for patching, access control, security updates and virus protection ensuring the overall security of an IT estate.
• Demonstrable experience and technical capability across projects and service lifecycle e.g. application support and management, DevOps, project management, solutions architecture, functional and non-functional testing
• Understands and champions user research, with a focus on user needs and ability to ‘sell’ the needs of the end user across the organisation

You’ll join us in one of our easy-to-reach digital hubs in Newcastle, Manchester, Blackpool.
