DevOps. Work. Projects.

We are looking for talented Engineers to join us to develop, deploy, maintain and enhance cloud infrastructure solutions and new technologies to help support the Intelligent Automation Garage (IAG) Platform. Your work will help increase productivity and improve decision making across DWP.

IAG has developed and deployed over 50 automations for DWP – processing over 9.8m transactions – using a mix of technologies including Robotics Process Automation, Computer Vision, OCR, Natural Language Processing and Deep Learning.

Working closely with DWP business areas and stakeholders, IAG teams design, build, deploy and run automations using our cloud platform and liquid infrastructure.

Recognized as a Government leader in Intelligent Automation, DWP is also acknowledged as leading the way across industry – this was confirmed with success at National Technology Awards 2019 (Tech Team of the Year) and Digital Technology Leaders Awards 2019 (Best Automation Project).

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

• EC2: Instances, Autoscaling groups, Lifecycle Policies / Lifecycle Hooks.
• CloudFormation / Terraform Infrastructure as Code
• Advanced Level template scripting, knowledge of parameters, functions, references, mappings.
• Autoscaling and Non-Autoscaling templates, CFN-Init.
• VPC: Creating and managing VPCs, Subnets, Security Groups (Firewall rules), Network ACLS. VPC Peering, AWS Privatelink and VPC Endpoints, and understanding of HA systems.
• Linux OS: Basic knowledge of Amazon Linux 2, Bash, and fundamental experience of Grep, Installing Packages, User Account Management.
• Operating Systems: Advanced Knowledge of Windows Server 2008R2, 2012R2, 2016.
• HTTPS/Certificates/SSL/Mutual SSL: Understanding and experience of applying certificates, knowledge of modern encryption techniques.
• Live Service Management: Understanding of the importance of running a business critical production environment – ability to carefully follow change management process.
• Understanding of SRE principals and standards.
• Expertise in DevOps principals, good knowledge of incident management / change management
• Knowledge of GIT: branching strategies, merging, push, pull requests etc.
