Do you want to be part of something really big? If you’re creative and curious to learn, want to be empowered to make decisions and challenge the norm, and want to bring BIG ideas to a MASSIVE digital challenge then you’ll love it here. And we’d love to hear from you.
DWP are looking for Lead Technical Architects with the skills to fill a key Infrastructure specialist role to work with us on in a once-in-a-generation digital transformation. Our people work on projects that are revitalising and refreshing products and services that are used by millions of people every day to make them easier to use, and more efficient to deliver.
We know that better digital services in government will mean better public services. Using fresh ideas and leading edge technologies – and putting the user at the centre of everything we do – we create innovative digital solutions that make a difference to the lives of our 22 million users.
About the role
In DWP Solution Architects are responsible for supporting a team, blending leadership, architecture and development skills. Solution Architects are responsible for bringing a breadth of understanding across a range of technical domains and a depth of knowledge and/or experience in at least one, but ideally many. Strong developmental and architectural skills are as vital as leadership or communication skills.
As a Solution Architect here you will, working with engineering teams, be responsible for supporting the design, development, delivery and maintenance of IT products and services. This will usually be for a project or a specific strand of a programme.
You’ll own product architecture, develop product roadmaps and represent product designs to stakeholders. You’ll make sure technical quality remains optimal.
And, contributing to our Enterprise Architecture, you’ll identify, capture, share, implement and iterate architecture patterns to ensure consistent and coherent architecture design.
As a Lead Solution Architect you are an expert in your field and a role model across the technical architecture community, helping to lead the community and build high quality products and services. You’ll relish the challenge of working for the UK’s largest government department, one with responsibility for over £170 billion worth of payments, and for products and services used by millions of people including some of the most vulnerable members of our society.
You have an understanding across a range of technical domains and depth of experience in a number of domains or specialisms. And here you will be able to share that knowledge and experience – blending technical leadership, architecture and development skills.
You’ll have opportunities to lead and manage your team, and to provide wider architecture coaching and mentoring for other solution architects too. You’ll use your technical expertise and understanding of user needs to generate ideas, methods, tools and best practice. And your insight and expertise will drive decisions for our organisation.
