Job description

DWP. Digital with Purpose.

We’re looking for emerging Digital Portfolio Managers to join our brilliant DWP Digital community.

You might have experience as a PMO, Project Manager, Delivery Manager or similar. If you’re organised, a problem solver, a communicator and collaborator – if you understand tracking, reporting and how project delivery works – and you’re looking to advance your career in Portfolio Management, apply today.

In DWP Digital we offer uniquely challenging and fulfilling careers for people interested in using their skills to make a genuine difference to society. We’re part of the UK’s biggest government department, and along with around 150,000 colleagues and agents, we support over 22 million people every day to help them to find work and save for their future.

Few other organisations globally provide the same opportunity to apply next-generation digital technology on a massive scale to issues, products and service which touch the lives of so many.

Delivery. Work. Portfolios.

We’re looking for confident self-motivated digitally savvy project and portfolio managers with a proven track record of initiating process improvements. Ideally, you’ll have worked within software development and the software delivery lifecycle or SaaS, and be able to recommend change activities drawn from your experience

In this role you will support the delivery of distinct, high profile digital portfolios in either our Universal Credit, Working Age, Digital Health Portfolio or Shared Channels portfolios.

You’ll have a varied and central role in the management of DWP’s huge portfolio of digital projects.

You’ll help our teams to deliver better and faster, helping to unblock issues and ensuring that proper measures and analyses, controls and risk mitigation procedures are in place. You’ll challenge the status quo, make improvements and set up iterative value-add processes.

We’re a collaborative team and a large part of this role is about stakeholder management. You’ll need to be good with people, and able to build relationships big enough to get the job done.

We need someone who can ably articulate clear business rationales, whatever the audience, and help work us towards the best outcomes for DWP and our millions of customers

You’ll make sure projects and activities are planned, prioritised and delivered by our teams, using the most appropriate method. In most cases that will be agile delivery.

At DWP Digital we recognise our people are our greatest assets and we’ve developed the right programmes and pathways to help you grow your skills and your career. You’ll get great exposure and experience really quickly and develop as part of a brilliant, supportive DWP Portfolio Management Community. Click APPLY and start your career within DWP Digital today.

What skills, knowledge and experience are we looking for?

So really expand and structure your responses to evidence the skills and experience we’re looking for. Remember to show how you have shown initiative, used quantitative and qualitative data to make successful recommendations as well as discuss your experience within software delivery lifecycle management and, software programme delivery or SaaS.

Details. Wages. Perks.

You’ll join us in your choice of our easy-to-reach digital hub in Blackpool, Leeds, London, Manchester or Newcastle.

We also all have the tech and tools we need to enable our people to work flexibly, and many of us are working remotely at the moment due to COVID-19.

We offer a competitive salary up to £40,666 (non-London)/£45,018 (London), a brilliant civil service pension with 27% employer contributions, and a generous annual leave package starting at 25 days and rising to 30 over time.
