Job description

DWP. Digital with Purpose.
We’re looking for an experienced Digital Portfolio Manager to be responsible for assuring successful delivery of a portfolio of projects and programmes within a delivery function.

DWP are the biggest payer in the UK, helping some 22m citizens live better lives by paying around £170bn annually. The scale and impact of the work we do is huge.

DWP Digital is transforming DWP’s services by unlocking the potential of leading edge technologies and ways of working. We’re building and running innovative digital technology solutions that meet and respond to the changing needs and expectations of millions of people.

We want to make it quicker, easier for DWP’s customers to get the support they need and make services and support easier for our 150,000 colleagues and agents to manage and deliver.

Duties. Work. Projects.
You’ll work with your Director, providing assurance that the portfolio of digital projects within their directorate delivers optimal outcomes.

You’ll make sure services are compliant with service and technology standards and adhere to all governance and assurance activity for the Service Teams, supporting delivery of clear product and governance roadmaps.

You’ll be responsible for the overall health of your portfolio.

You’ll identify and prioritise new work. You will provide expert insight and advice as projects are set up, including managing and prioritising demand through the Digital Front Door and ensuring the right people and resources are available to deliver.

You’ll have some line management responsibility. The expectation is that you will coach, identify training opportunities and set standards and frameworks for your team. You’ll stay consistent with our wider Portfolio Management community who will be able to offer you, in turn, support to help you be at your best.

Where will you work?

You’ll join our team with a base office at one of our Digital Hubs at either Leeds, Newcastle OR Blackpool.

We also all have the tech and tools we need to enable our people to work flexibly, and many of us are working remotely at the moment due to COVID-19.

We provide the latest tech and tooling and foster a collaborative culture to help our agile, multidisciplinary teams think big and try new things. You will work alongside people who care passionately about public service, making a difference and delivering for our customers.
