We are looking for Senior Front End Developers to help us transform the way DWP delivers services to meet the evolving needs of society, our workforce of 86,000 and our 22 million users.
A role model for software craft you will be responsible for building elegant, accessible and scalable services that meet User needs, sharing your knowledge of best practice and guiding teams on how to deliver quality products.
You’ll lead by example, building, maintaining and sharing reusable libraries of code, as well as contributing to cross-government code libraries, with responsibility for actively shaping the bigger picture. You’ll contribute to the definition and maintenance of standards here at DWP Digital and across the public sector, and have a genuine impact on the way millions of people interact with government.
What skills and experience are we looking for?
- detailed knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Web standards
- experience of node.js Development
- understanding of software design principles, including progressive enhancement
- building robust and accessible interfaces that work for as many users as possible, regardless of their needs
- using testing and testing methodologies to validate solutions
- understanding of technologies used for web applications, e.g. HTTPS, JSON and REST
