We are looking for talented Developers and Engineers to work with us on one of the biggest transformation programmes in Europe, providing services that have far-reaching and pivotal roles in citizens’ lives. What skills knowledge and experience are we looking for?
- Significant and demonstrable experience of development in open source technologies like Java, JavaScript, Node.js, Test-driven development alongside use of automated test frameworks.
- Experoence using Linux based Operating Systems like RHEL, working with distributed version control systems such as Git – or – Cobol; ideally Microfocus Cobol but also VME Cobol / System Control Language
- An ability to quickly make, take and influence sound technical decisions, you’ll understand the pros and cons of these different technologies.
- Implementing Software Engineering best practices and governing them.
- Experience of using a modern standard approach and able to guide others in doing so.
- Experience of being able to quickly comprehend and convert business requirement and user stories into technical solutions and engaging with multiple senior stakeholders.
- Experience working with a technical architect and relevant third parties to specify the architecture and technical approach for the product being developed.
- Experience of co-ordinating build activities to deliver products within specific timescales, working alongside multiple stakeholders.
- Experience of supporting all aspects of Live running, triaging, resolving and escalating any issues as appropriate.
- Successful track record of being able to identify and implement opportunities to automate and optimise the end to end process.

BPDTS Ltd provides dedicated services to the Department for Work and Pensions. Our digital, data and technology specialists work closely with experts in DWP Digital’s community to make digital services quicker, simpler and more efficient for the millions of people that use them.
You’ll join us in our brilliant digital hub in Blackpool. It’s a beautiful site we share with wild rabbits, birds, koi carp, dogwalkers and a family of otters.
