You and your role

As a Windows Engineer within Infrastructure Server Support in BPDTS, you’ll be working with a wide range of tools and technologies such as Windows Server 2003, 2008 and 2012, VMWare, Active Directory and various deployment tools.

Whilst the role is demanding it is also rich in opportunities to expand upon your technical knowledge and expertise.
You are technically gifted with an investigative way of thinking and enjoy the challenge of getting stuck into issues to find out why things aren’t working.

You are someone who is able to work under pressure and accustomed to change. Your strong technical background will allow to learn and picks up skills fast.

Please note that the team provides support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and as a result you may be expected to work as part of an on call rota.

You must be willing to undergo appropriate security clearance (SC).

What are we looking for?

• Manage and maintain hardware and software such as Windows Server 2003, 2008 and 2012 skills, VMware Virtualization Technology, Windows Clustering
• Active Directory 2008, 2012
• Deployment Tools such as MDT – Microsoft Deployment Tool and/or WDS – Windows Deployment Services
• Experience in hosting operations
• Experience and successful track record of operation of products, services and techniques used to operate hosting services in large scale organisations
• Experience of the main Infrastructure technologies – Compute, Network, Storage
• Knowledge of a service management framework
• (e.g. ITIL) terminology, structure and basic concepts, and comprehend the core practices for service management.

BPDTS Ltd provides dedicated services to the Department for Work and Pensions. Our digital, data and technology specialists work closely with experts in DWP Digital’s community to make digital services quicker, simpler and more efficient for the millions of people that use them.

You’ll join us in one of our easy-to-reach digital hubs in Newcastle or Manchester.

Each hub has been designed for and by members of our digital community. We provide the latest tech and tooling and foster a collaborative culture to help our agile, multi-disciplinary teams think big and try new things.
