YOU are highly experienced with working at pace in an agile environment and are able to work from a digital perspective.
YOU are an expert in being able to take responsibility and constructive criticism as well as being in a position to administer it.
YOU are an IxD expert who relishes the thought of leading by example to see home the largest of design projects.
YOU understand the importance of User Centred Approach – basing content and design on users’ actual needs.
We are looking for Senior Interaction Designers with significant experience of large projects and/or extensive previous experience as a UX Designer.
You’ll fit right in if you want to use your expert status to make a positive difference to other people’s lives by helping to create and design the way the welfare system interacts with all, using the most modern UX design environments, tools and latest technologies.

Re-using and iterating our services through interaction design
ABOUT YOU
As an Senior Interaction Designer you will be able to demonstrate you can drive forward projects and people towards an understanding of user needs and design services (including interfaces and transaction flows) that meet them.
You will have a demonstrable expert track record of defining elements – layout, design patterns, controls, actions and visual priorities. You will be able to guide others through what needs to be obvious, what needs to be easy, and what needs to be made possible.
You’ll thrive in overseeing others as well as yourself in creating and rapidly iterating prototypes to help the wider team learn about user needs for different scenarios or tasks.
You will be willing to take charge and to play an active leadership part in the department’s Product Design community.
You will be highly motivated to drive forward innovative working practices in a cross-functional team to turn concepts into user-centred services.
You will ideally have a design-related degree and experience of working on designs with a team of software engineers in a leadership capacity.
Where You’ll Work
You’ll join us in one of our easy-to-reach digital hubs in Leeds, Sheffield, or Blackpool.
Each of our hubs is a modern, vibrant workplace that was designed for and by members of our digital community. Our central hubs have the best of the city on the doorstep, and we have a range of facilities across the sites from cafes, coffee shops and restaurants, to ping pong, a swimming pool, gym facilities and loads more.
Here we provide the latest tech and tooling and foster a collaborative culture to help our agile, multidisciplinary teams think big and try new things. You will work alongside people who care passionately about public service, making a difference and delivering for our customers.
We’re the UK’s biggest government department with over 80,000 diverse and brilliant people on our team. We are an equal opportunity employer and we welcome applications regardless of age, gender, race or sexuality.
