We are looking for talented Software Engineering leaders to work with us on one of the biggest transformation programmes in Europe, providing services that have far-reaching and pivotal roles in citizens’ lives.

Our Engineers and Devs write code to create applications and infrastructure, using automated and manual testing to make sure it works, is high quality and bug free. We use cutting-edge design, data and a full range of innovative technologies to try out new ideas, experiment, iterate and innovate at pace.

You and your role

As a Senior Software Engineer you will be a skilled practitioner and a role model in software craft. You are responisble for ensuring best practices are adhered to across the department, leading and guiding teams of engineers on how to deliver quality software products.

You aren’t bothered about titles or hierarchy though; what really excites you is problem-solving and the opportunity to deliver innovative technology that carries real value for users. You will draw value from collaboration with others, actively seek input from colleagues and thrive as part of an agile multidisciplinary team.

With a focus on operational stability, robustness, resilience, availability and quality you will be accountable for the code your teams produce. You and you teams will build and improve software that will be used in DWP products and services by millions of people every day, including some of the most vulerable in our society.

Where You’ll Work

You’ll join us in one of our easy-to-reach digital hubs in either Leeds or Sheffield. Each of our hubs is modern, vibrant workplace, designed for and by members of our community.

In Leeds we’re close to the bus and train station, and handy for lots of the best of the city centre. If you want to grab some streetfood or do some shopping, we’re just close to Kirkgate Market. On site we have a restaurant, coffee shops, a swimming pool, a dentist and lots more great facilities.

In Sheffield you’ll join a digitial hub dedicated to pushing forward an exiciting Identity Services agenda. We’re at the forefront of authentication and verification technolgies, we have a brilliant talented community, and we host great meet ups, and networking events to bring Sheffied’s tech scene together.
