We’re looking for a talented Senior Digital Portfolio Manager join us in the North West. You could be working as a Portfolio Manager already, or you might be an experienced Project or Programme Manager, or very experienced PMO, looking for new ways to apply your skills.
You’ll join DWP’s Technology Services team
Technology Services provide the foundations upon which digital services for DWP are developed and operate. Our purpose is to deliver secure, effective and cost-efficient digital infrastructure services and to run DWP’s live IT operations. We do this by putting users and quality of service at the heart of what we do.
We deliver services not projects. And our portfolio is made up of services of national significance. We leverage modern tech tooling to transform services used by millions of people each and every day.

Fundamentally, you’ll focus on keeping the Tech Services portfolio healthy.
That means more than just reporting. You’ll be finding solutions, and removing obstacles and blockers that might get in the way of best in class delivery.
You’ll read and understand our portfolio, prioritising and making recommendations that empower decisions that will define DWP digital products and services, and the customer experience.
You’ll need a good understanding of risk management, prioritisation and enterprise prioritisation, as well as resource/demand planning, reporting and good communication.
And you can build relationships big enough to get the job done. You’ll have accountability for leading and influencing major delivery discussions, negotiations and decisions at the highest level, across issues of real complexity.
What are we looking for?

- You will have worked in project management role covering the full project lifecycle (either Waterfall or Agile delivery method).
- You can manage senior stakeholders, at senior levels of government, including presenting and reporting at senior level.
- You have experience of analysing multiple information sources, producing reports appropriate for senior audiences, including making recommendations for changes.
- You can lead appropriate governance procedures.
- You have experience of benefit realisation and quality management, with experience of reviewing factors which impacted final outcomes.
