Job description
DWP. Digital with Purpose.
We’re looking for Associate User Researchers to join DWP Digital’s growing community of experts.
You’ll work as part of either our Technology Services or Retirement, Bereavement and Care (RBC) teams.
Technology Services
We provide the foundations for DWP products and services used by over 22 million citizens, enabling over £170bn payments to people when they need them most.
Our purpose is to deliver secure, effective and cost-efficient digital infrastructure services and to run live IT operations for the UK’s largest government department.
Our user researchers are key to capturing insight (e.g. via UR workshops) and use a mixture of audience based methodologies to analyse user feedback so we develop support services that provide an experience that employees and agents will find timely, engaging and consistent, allowing them to optimize their ability to focus on their roles and the needs of the Citizen.
Retirement, Bereavement and Care (RBC)
We develop the services so that citizens can live more comfortably in their retirement, get support if someone close to them dies and access the help they need to care for others.
Each digital service development has its own user driven requirements, which will enhance user experience and compliance whilst striving towards the DWP digital goals.
We currently have a mixed economy of ageing applications, business-developed small systems and new user-focussed Digital services.
Our commitment is to ensure their interaction with Government is frictionless and supportive. At the same time, we want to drive maximum value for money and reduce the overall operating cost of all elements of service delivery.
And, driven by brilliant User Research, we put our users at the centre of everything we design and deliver.
Duties. Work. Projects.
You will work independently on limited complexity research projects to identify business problems and devise appropriate research strategy.
Supported by our experienced User Researchers and under the guidance of senior team members, you will plan and conduct research. Analysing and synthesising research data so that it is shareable and traceable, however for smaller scale projects you will work independently to deliver insights and expertise to your assigned team.
What skills, knowledge and experience are we looking for?
- For this role we welcome applications from those with a self-starting and confident attitude, with an ability to display an aptitude for this type of work
- Ideally you have a background where similar skills are required like research and analysis, or have worked in an environment where user research is utilised.
Where will you work?
You’ll join our team with a base office at one of our Digital Hubs at either Newcastle OR Manchester.
We have the tech and tools we need to enable our people to work flexibly, and many of us are working remotely at the moment due to COVID-19.
