About us

Transforming DWP’s digital services in partnership

DWP Digital, together with our digital technology services partner BPDTS Ltd, is a growing community of experts employed by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and BPDTS Ltd.

We work in co-located, multidisciplinary teams, delivering ‘digital by default’ government services for the UK’s largest public service department, DWP. Our organisation includes more than 1,000 people employed by our digital technology partner BPDTS Ltd.

Responsible for welfare, pensions and child maintenance policy, DWP transacts around £170 billion in payments each year, operates out of more than 800 locations and has over 84,000 employees. We run one of the most complex IT estates in Western Europe.

The large-scale digital transformation we’re undergoing has created a wealth of new and exciting job opportunities. Together with BPDTS Ltd, we’re driving the Government’s vision. We’re using cutting-edge design, data and innovative technologies to create faster, simpler, user-centred services for more than 20 million people.

Our teams and projects are regularly recognised at an industry level. This year, our Intelligent Automation Garage was named as Tech Team of the Year in the National Technology Awards, where we’ve also won the Best Public Sector Project award two years running. We were awarded Best Automation Project at the Computing Digital Technology Leaders Awards 2019. And our Find a Job service was named in the Digital Leaders 100 list.

Chief Technology Officer, Juan Villamil, picked up the 2019 Digital Masters Award for Excellence in Technology.

DWP has also been listed in The Times Top 50 Employers for Women 2019, and won a Civil Service Diversity & Inclusion 2019 Award.

BPDTS Ltd is a private limited company, delivering a full range of specialist digital, data and technology services to DWP. BPDTS Ltd offers highly competitive salaries, up to 10 per cent bonus every year, and a great pension, with employer contributions of up to 10 per cent.
