Job description

Do you want to be part of something really big?
BPDTS Ltd is a not-for-profit company which provides dedicated services to the Department for Work and Pensions. Our digital, data and technology specialists work closely with experts in DWP Digital’s community to make digital services quicker, simpler and more efficient for the millions of people that use them.

We are looking for Agile Delivery Managers to work with us on one of the largest transformation programmes in Europe, providing services that have far-reaching and pivotal roles in citizens’ lives. In BPDTS a relaxed culture empowers our teams to focus entirely on the incredible outcomes we’re trying to achieve.

We know that better digital services in government will mean better public services, with the power to make a difference to lives of 22 million UK citizens. Our fast growing digital community is driving that change.

About you

As an Agile Delivery Manager you will be accountable for the effective, cross-functional delivery of products using agile/lean techniques.

You must have a good understanding of software development, business operational process design, non-digital artefact design (e.g. paper forms), user research, user experience design and aspects of strategy/policy development. You will apply this to help dynamically organise delivery activities at a detailed level.

You will already be an experienced leader of agile/lean techniques within your team and will be tasked with empowering the team to self-organise effectively to optimise their chances of success. Critically you will be are accountable for setting a good, sustainable delivery pace.

You will apply good agile delivery practice for planning, tracking progress, managing blockers, financial management, scope management, resource management, stakeholder management and governance.

You will be accountable for efficient integration with other (agile or non-agile) delivery teams and departmental governance.  You will have experience in delivering projects using a waterfall methodology and be able to identify and compare the best processes or delivery methods to use.

What are we looking for?

Where will you work?

You’ll join us in one of our easy-to-reach digital hubs in Manchester or Newcastle. Both of these vibrant modern workplaces were designed for and by members of our digital community. Here we provide the latest tech and tooling and foster a collaborative culture to help our agile, multidisciplinary teams think big and try new things.

In Newcastle, you’ll join a site where colleagues from across government work alongside each other on massive digital challenges, where we host meet-ups and events and where some of our biggest projects sit. It’s a short walk from the Longbenton Metro station.

In Manchester we’re right on St Peter’s Square so dead handy for trams and trains, and we have great views over the library and town hall. It’s our newest (and dare we say fanciest) digital hub and we have some of our most leading edge teams working here. There are loads of great places to get your lunch, or for an after work social, nearby too.

What is our offer?

We also offer much more as part of a flexible benefits package – including a cycle to work scheme and lots of family friendly perks – which can be tailored to your lifestyle.

If you really impress us with your skills and experience then we may be able to negotiate the maximum salary.

Building our future

We believe the work we do really matters, so we’re serious about investing in you.

You’ll have access to a huge suite of training and learning opportunities to complement the new skills you’ll acquire on the job. You’ll get the chance to share knowledge and with colleagues from across our digital communities, and to grow your skills through our coaching and mentoring programmes.
