Job description

DWP. Digital with Purpose.

We want someone to join our Business Management Team and work with a number of critical digital projects to plan, forecast and organise their workforce needs. It’s an important role for us – Business Management teams are the glue that holds everything together in DWP’s Digital Group.

You’ll need really strong excel skills to help up analyse and manipulate data as well as great people and planning skills.

DWP Digital is transforming government services by unlocking the potential of leading edge technologies and ways of working. We’re making it quicker and easier for DWP’s 22 million customers to get the support they need.

Duties. Work. Projects.

We currently have a vacancy on our Business Management Team for Children, Retirement and Counter Fraud (CRCF).

CRCF deliver digital services in support of things like Child Maintenance, Retirement, Bereavement and Care, Counter-fraud and debt management and other major change programmes.

It’s really a big area and one with a huge, and very real impact on millions of people across the UK, including some of our most vulnerable users.

This is a workforce planning role at its heart. You won’t own the plan but you will be responsible for its administration. You’ll ensure that workforce planning data is accurate, up-to-date, useful and usable.

You will work with our small BMT on workforce planning and management. Together we’ll collaborate with sub-functions and project teams to establish what projects need resource, to account for future demand, and decide how to forecast and plan.

You’ll need the people and communications skills to gather the right information from stakeholders of different backgrounds, personality and seniority. From there it’s about building a picture using all that disparate data.

You need to be really strong in your understanding and use of Excel. You will turn data into meaningful MI, and create a dashboard of data and intel that empowers effective decision-making and planning.

We have a massive existing Excel sheet which is central to a lot of what we need to do. You’ll be able to make sense of our existing formulae, be able to build on and evolve what we have in place at the moment, manipulate data, and spot and fix any errors.

What skills and experience do you need?

Where will you work

You’ll join our team in our brilliant digital hub in Newcastle, just a really short walk from Longbenton Metro.
