The Head of Role for Digital Project Management role sits right at the heart of that transformation. You will join a network of digital, data and technology leaders that has developed into an essential forum for co-ordinating and driving transformation across government
You’ll bring bags of expertise and experience and use all that to implement strategy and practices that will improve project management capability in our organisation. You will represent the Digital Project Management practice across DWP and outside the organisation; across government, in the media and at conferences and meet-ups.

Delivery. Work. Projects.
This is influential and autonomous role reporting in to a Digital Deputy Director. As Head of Digital Project Management you will be an agent of change steeped in technical expertise, and you’ll have the leadership skills to manage the pastoral care of up a team 300 colleagues within Digital Project Management.
This role is all about strategic communication, direction, facilitation and hands-on delivery of dynamic business transformation.
You will embrace the diversity of change and also help write the script across a huge canvas and portfolio of high-profile, high-value projects.
ll draw from your practical experience to develop for professional standards in Project Management. You will drive recruitment, community building and L&D for our community.
You’ll have a flair in managing internal politics and be a stakeholder management champion. We’re recruiting because we want fresh ideas and perspectives, so we welcome applications from candidates who have experience across different sectors.
What skills and experience are we looking for?
• Extensive experience of managing delivery of digital projects through the whole lifecycle including digital projects of high complexity
• Deep knowledge of digital project management techniques
• Coaching others in digital project management techniques
• Managing live digital service support
• Managing external digital supplier delivery
• Experience of working in a complex diverse organisation
Nice to have but not essential…
• A previous PMO or CIO background with hands on Project management
• Prince 2 Practitioner
• PMI, Prince 2
• ITIL
• Agile methodology
• An MBA or similar would be the icing on the cake.
