You and your role
As you’ll be joining our Infrastructure Engineer community, we refer to this role in DWP as an Infrastructure Engineer – Desktop. The role though is closest to a Test Environment Engineer or Test Environment Manager, and you will be responsible for operation, support, and maintenance of test environments.
You will support the end-to-end testing of a range of business critical applications and underpinning infrastructure. A good knowledge of virtual platforms (eg Nutanix AHV, VMWare, Citrix) is required as is a good understanding of the Microsoft stack.
The role is a great opportunity for a capable technical manager in a developing area to define an approach based on best practice.
What skills and experience are we looking for?
- Strong planning and stakeholder management skills
- Experience of automated testing toolsets.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft infrastructure stack, including: Virtual Servers; Active Directory; Software Distribution, eg SCCM; Virtualisation platforms, eg Nutanix, VMWare, or Citrix; Patch Management, eg WSUS
Where you’ll work
You’ll join us in our digital hub Manchester City Centre. Right on St Peter’s Square, we’re really handy for bus, tram and train. And we have a basement level lock-up with showers if you like to cycle in.
