We are looking for a talented Infrastructure Operations Engineer with Tooling to join our team. Here at BPDTS Ltd we’re working with DWP Digital to reshape the digital landscape of UK government. We need your talent and energy to power that change.

We deliver innovative solutions and manage the day to day support of Application and Infrastructure IT Services. We ensure digital services operate as they should 24/7, 365 days of the year. We handle IT requests and technology incidents to continuously improve service downtime and increase operational efficiency.
You and your role
As an Infrastructure Engineer within the Operational Tooling team you will have responsibility for maintenance and ownership for an assigned range of products which will include:
- Service Management Tooling
- Event Monitoring Tooling
- Application Performance Management Tooling
- Software Asset Management Tooling
- Data Centre Infrastructure Management Tooling
You’ll need to know infrastructure inside out. Working in collaboration with a range of internal/external partners, stakeholders and customers, you will support the implementation and improve the operational stability of the Operational Tooling estate to provide a robust and modern enterprise strength capability.
You should be confident in remotely accessing servers via Remote Desktop Services and we operate a wide variety of systems including Windows and multiple flavours of UNIX.
You will be responsible for contributing to the operational availability of each of your toolsets.
Essential Skills
- You can demonstrate experience in developing standard/repeatable services
- You’ll have experience in monitoring IT infrastructure using tooling including BMC TrueSight, Dynatrace, Prometheus and Nagios
- Experience in Linux/Unix/Windows OS
- Ability to write scripts and automate processes in languages including: Bash & Powershell
- An understanding of IT infrastructure including virtualisation, networks & cloud.
- Able to effectively communicate at different levels, across support and engineering, business users, architecture and suppliers
- You can demonstrate experience of working within an Agile framework
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge & Experience of software used to support the following technologies is desirable:
- Experience in configuring IT infrastructure monitoring tools
- Event Management
- Knowledge of public cloud infrastructure
- Application Performance Management
- Network Performance Management
- Data Centre Infrastructure Management.
