We are looking for experienced Data Architects to work with us on one of the biggest transformation programmes in Europe, providing services that have far-reaching and pivotal roles in citizens’ lives.

You and your role

As a Lead Data Architect you will provide expert guidance and leadership on the development of data strategy, data-based products, data governance and quality assurance.

You will work with our chief data architect, data domain architect, technical architects and wider stakeholder group to help create and deliver a world class data as a service offering through the development of a modern data warehouse and big data lake.
You’ll also work with other government departments to set standard ways of working informing a cross government data strategy.

As a lead architect you will:
• Drive the Data & Analytics data and technical strategies
• Engage with Enterprise Architecture and Security to ensure the Data Strategy is incorporated safely into system architectures
• Drive the development of new and improved Data & Analytics products and services
• Act as senior consultant to Operations, collaboratively identifying opportunities to streamline business activity through use of data

What are we looking for?

• You have experience of working at a senior level in an Enterprise Data Warehouse team in a large complex organisation, such as a bank or financial services with proven work experience in data architecture and data modelling including reverse engineering models from data.
• You are an expert in industry best practices for database development and administration of relational and multi-dimensional database design
• You have proven analytical skills to properly evaluate and interpret cross-functional data standardisation requirements.
• You are skilled in business process and data flow modelling with a demonstrable track record of resolving complex issues relating to enterprise-wide data architecture within a challenging, dynamic delivery landscape.
• You have expert level knowledge of DW/BI stack and metadata management and at least three of Oracle, CA ERwin, SAS, Business Objects & Informatica, Unix Shell programming, SQL
• You have a strong background in development & delivery lifecycle methodology

It’s also great it:

• You know about new data visualisation/reporting tools eg. Tableau, Pentaho
• You understand open source relational and non-relational technology e.g. Hbase/Hadoop, Hive, Postgres, MongoDB & APIs
