Job description

DWP. Digital with Purpose.

We’re looking for an experienced Technical Solution Architect to join our growing community of experts and leaders. DWP is leading a once in a generation programme of welfare reform and you’ll drive forward a key part of one of the biggest and highest-profile digital transformation programmes in the world.

DWP currently has an enormously ambitious and challenging agenda, often working in partnership with the private and voluntary sector. We provide services and support to over 20 million people, are responsible for over 730 million benefit payments each year.

At the heart of this massive agenda is the digital transformation of the services the DWP provides, which will radically improve how government interacts with people. The services will be easier and swifter to access; the time taken to develop new services will be decreased and the cost of delivery reduced significantly.

You and your role
As a Lead Solution Architect in the Fraud, Error & Debt (FED) function you will lead a team of solution & technical architects, specialists in their domain. We’re a huge and complex organisation, with architectural challenges you just don’t find anywhere else. And we make £billions payments every year, so FED is a really significant area for us.

Representing the FED function at Design Authority, you will ensure architectural approaches adhere to a Cloud & service re-use first strategy.

You will be responsible for the supporting of the design, development, delivery and maintenance of IT products and services in FED, as well as liaising with other functional units to ensure a seamless integration with other services.

An expert in your field and a role model across the technical architecture community, you will lead the community and build high quality products and services.

Blending technical leadership, architecture and development skills, you’ll grow our architectural capability across DWP, and coach/mentor other architects.
