Job description

DWP. Digital with Purpose.
We’re looking for a Senior Business Architect to work across DWP and government to shape strategy and deliver meaningful improvements to services used by millions of people at key moments in their lives.

You’re driven to deliver real, tangible value and adept at working with stakeholders at all levels from a diverse range of backgrounds and disciplines.

You will be joining a well-established and expanding team that is responsible for development and delivery of DWP Digital’s Business Architecture solutions.

We’re a massive, complex, unique organisation and we’re taking on a once-in-a-generation challenge. You’ll need to understand and identify impacts and interdependencies and deliver cross-cutting solutions to help manage this epic transformation.

Duties. Work. Projects.
You’re an experienced architect. You know the right architectural models and methods to use and you can explain why. This is a fast-paced and critical role, and you will be expected to the hit the ground running.

You have a passion for public sector transformation and the ability to bridge the gap between design, strategy and the operational view, ensuring the customer is always at the heart of decision making.

You build relationships that are big enough to get the job done. You drive strategic discussion forward and influence the shape and scope of projects. You challenge where required to ensure the best possible decisions and outcomes for services, capabilities and organisational design.

You’re a leader and manager, and you’ll help us grow our architectural capability and shape the direction for DWP Digital. You’re an expert voice who can deliver insights, information and products to the Lead Business Architect, and act as an advocate and ambassador for our community and the value of the work we do.

We are looking for someone with skills and experience in:

• working with senior leaders in strategy, operational delivery and technology to test and validate business context and insight.

• leading a team to achieve a common goal, addressing conflict where necessary and building consensus to establish a community within a practice.

• developing business models to enable analysis of the department, the identification and articulation of business challenges and opportunities, and the exploration of design options and their impact.

• using business capabilities and developing roadmaps to articulate the as-is and to-be state of the business to developing tailored collateral for senior leaders, to drive informed decision making.

Where will you work?
You’ll join our team at one of our digital hubs in either Blackpool, Leeds, London, Manchester, Newcastle-upon-Tyne or Sheffield.

We also all have the tech and tools we need to enable our people to work flexibly, and many of us are working remotely at the moment due to COVID-19.
