DWP. Digital with Purpose.

We’re looking for a Senior Interaction Designer to join our growing community of experts. DWP is leading a once in a generation programme of welfare reform and you’ll drive forward a key part of one of the biggest and highest-profile digital transformation programmes in the world.

Design. Work. Projects.
You and your role

You’re an experienced designer, and you’re happy to share your knowledge and insight to help our team to deliver DWP services, products and tools which meet user needs.

Your focus will be on fulfilling user needs and understanding user journeys, using prototypes to do so. You create and iterate prototypes to test and communicate ideas, and your teams know how to turn concepts into user-centred designs.

You understand and advocate for design best practice and prototyping, and you keep a curious eye on the latest developments in your profession.

You will lead teams within agile and multidisciplinary environment and will be comfortable building effective relationships with senior stakeholders. You can also manage other people’s work, support senior level discussions and assist with recruitment.

Managing your team’s workload will be key. You’ll understand the as-is position on interaction designs, implement new approaches across deliverables and identify improvement opportunities.

Beyond management of day-to-day delivery, you will have a strong focus on how to improve practices and feed this into the roadmap for future services.

You understand that the use of typography and affordance to improve user experience is essential to ensuring that the design of services is consistent. Here we need to be consistent within DWP but also with the rest of the GOV.UK estate, and across multiple work streams.

You’ll need to be aware of the bigger picture, and the fine detail, and understand constraints as well as opportunities to flex and innovate. You’ll need to be able to analyse and identify cost saving opportunities while implementing best practice interaction designs.

What skills and experience are we looking for?
It’s essential you can demonstrate that you:
