Job description

DWP. Digital with Purpose.

Can you inform a digital programme/portfolio management strategy and support multiple delivery teams and live services?

Are you a digital evangelist with experience of leading and delivering significant digital infrastructure transformation programme?

DWP is the UK’s largest government department. We’re using modern tech, tooling and thinking to transform the way we deliver support and services to millions of users.

We’re looking for a talented Senior Digital Portfolio Manager join us in the North West. You could be working as a Portfolio Manager already, or you might be an experienced Project or Programme Manager, or very experienced PMO, looking for new ways to apply your skills.

You’ll join DWP’s Technology Services team

Technology Services provide the foundations upon which digital services for DWP are developed and operate. Our purpose is to deliver secure, effective and cost-efficient digital infrastructure services and to run DWP’s live IT operations. We do this by putting users and quality of service at the heart of what we do.

We deliver services not projects. And our portfolio is made up of services of national significance. We leverage modern tech tooling to transform services used by millions of people each and every day.

Our team is made up of 1,500 colleagues working collaboratively across 10 portfolio-led teams in a fast-moving environment. We deliver an end-to-end suite of digital products and services that support DWP colleagues and citizens in an ever-evolving technology landscape.

Delivery. Work. Portfolio Management. You and your role:

You will lead the Technology Services Delivery Quality Management function with the Demand and Delivery Management team.  We ensure Tech Services achieves service excellence across a large and diverse portfolio of products, services and initiatives.

You’ll be accountable for establishing Delivery Quality Standards, developing and running the processes to ensure these standards are understood and adhered to.

Fundamentally, you’ll focus on keeping the Tech Services portfolio healthy.

That means more than just reporting. You’ll be finding solutions, and removing obstacles and blockers that might get in the way of best in class delivery.

You’ll read and understand our portfolio, prioritising and making recommendations that empower decisions that will define DWP digital products and services, and the customer experience.

You’ll need a good understanding of risk management, prioritisation and enterprise prioritisation, as well as resource/demand planning, reporting and good communication.

And you can build relationships big enough to get the job done. You’ll have accountability for leading and influencing major delivery discussions, negotiations and decisions at the highest level, across issues of real complexity.
