DWP. Digital with Purpose.
We’re looking for a Senior Solution Architect to join our Digital Workplace in DWP Digital. – an ambitious and innovative programme that is making a difference to lives of 22 million UK citizens.
Digital Workplace is one of the largest and most ambitious digital transformation programmes in Europe today. The programme underpins the annual processing of 5m benefit claims, all pension and benefit payments and supports over 84,000 colleagues working in 850 locations.
This important programme is at the heart of the Government’s digital change agenda. It incorporates an end-to-end suite of products and services that are owned by in-house multi-disciplinary teams and developed in partnership with end-users.
Through agile, problem solving methodologies our teams are creating and rolling-out new ways of working that are empowering colleagues and delivered at scale.

Your work will contribute towards the strategic design vision by supporting the Lead Architect in solution implementation to answer the question of “What will the Digital Workplace look like for users in the future?”.
You will, working with engineering teams, be responsible for supporting the design, development, delivery and maintenance of IT products and services.
Supporting the Digital Workplace Lead Architect in the impacting business requirements, and leading on the architectural direction of a number of core products, and setting the overall direction.
You will utilise your deep knowledge or end user computing, virtualised infrastructure, and networking in a large and complex enterprise environment to push the growth of the technical architecture community, helping to support the community and build high quality products and services.
Sharing of your knowledge and experience will be key, blending technical knowledge, architecture and development skills.
In addition, you will bring a breadth of understanding across a range of technical domains and depth of experience in at least one domain or specialism.
What skills and experience are we looking for?
- Agile / DevOps delivery methodologies and best practices
- Architecture design and modelling techniques, patterns, tools and standards
- Cloud and infrastructure architecture, frameworks, technologies, tools and best practice
- End User Computing technologies, including Office365, Microsoft Operating Systems, VMWare, Anti-virus and anti-malware, open source productivity tools, collaboration tools, Mobile Device Management, Email, Collaboration solutions, Identity and Access
- End user devices, including back-end management and support infrastructure e.g. AD, ADFS, ADCS, DNS, DHCP, CMS5, PKI, ESSO and myOffice
- Virtual desktop environment and application virtualisation
Where will you work?
You’ll join our team at our digital hub in Manchester. We’re based in the city centre and easily accessible by tram, bike, bus or rail.
