DWP are looking for a Technical Lead with skills and experience in Mobile Applications to work with us on in a massive digital transformation of our products, services and the use experience

Delivery. Work. Projects
You’ll join a multi-disciplinary engineering team as part of our Mobile Products service. Our team is responsible for the deployment, configuration and management of the mobile platform and applications.
Our product team provide an end-to-end design and implementation service. We’re responsible for defining and delivering the mobile application strategy for DWP. Key to this is establishing how we can support an increasingly decentralised workforce, improving the user experience, and increasing operational productivity across a variety of devices and platforms.
We’ve just created a Centre of Excellence for Mobile Application Development. As our Technical Lead you’ll work at the heart of this initiative and be key to its success. You’ll use your knowledge and experience to lead an empowered team. You’ll set the standards and embed best practice.
You’ll have the opportunity define, refine, and implement mobile application development and deployment processes for DWP. You’ll work with the most senior stakeholders to advocate and advise on opportunities for mobile application development.
You will collaborate with Product Owners and Delivery Managers, managing technical resources, budgets, and strategy so that we develop products quickly, consistently to a high standard of quality.
As a deep technical specialist you will regularly communicate with a range of technical experts from across our community. This includes architects, enterprise infrastructure teams and software engineers, to ensure delivery of customer-focused services that demonstrably meet business outcomes throughout their life.
What skills, knowledge and experience are we looking for?
- You have previous experience of working in a large digital organisation, and/or understand of how large digital organisations operate in the context of this role.
- You have extensive hands on technical experience with mobile application development
- You have contributed to mobile app development strategy and can define best practices, standards and guidelines for the mobile app development
- You can advise senior stakeholders on the development of DWP technical strategy including viability of improvements, estimated timescales and means needed to implement agreed strategy.
- You build strong relationships both internally and externally, reconciling on priorities and agreeing on approach, tooling or strategy improvements.
- You are comfortable providing expert domain knowledge and advising project teams when dealing with complex projects or issues.

You’ll join us in our brilliant Digital hub in Manchester. We’re right on St Peter’s Square so really easy to get to by bus, bike, train and tram.
